So I noticed while updating my server that my git repository was behind the upstream master branch. I went ahead and grabbed it, as I usually do, checked the forums and saw no notification, so I figured it was a tiny bugfix or something and just hadn’t been posted about yet. I messed something up in the merging, so a player went and looked and saw that this is actually Ares 2.0 and is in early access.
Is this supposed to be in the main master? Has there just not been an announcement yet or are people only supposed to have it for early access? Is there a way to roll it back or am I just in the early access group now?
Yes, it’s in early access so I can test the install and upgrade process and plugin developers can get their stuff working - that’s why there was no announcement yet.
I guess conceivably you could downgrade, but it’d be messy. You’d have to roll back both the code commits and the database upgrades. It’s almost certainly easier/safer just to carry on with the early access
The release notes are here: Releases · AresMUSH/aresmush · GitHub There are special upgrade instructions and developer notes if you have custom code or community plugins installed. Some of the community plugins have been updated to 2.0 but others haven’t.
Yeah I saw the release notes, I’m updating and restarting now.
Alright! Well, consider Star Wars: Restoration an early access volunteer, I s’pose.
OK
Let me know if you run into any trouble. You can PM me for a discord link if you don’t already have one.
I posted a note so hopefully nobody else will accidentally opt into early access
