If I have to do something like a ‘shutdown,’ I usually make an announcement first. ‘announce Shutting down for a minute, be right back’ or whatever.
However, this only goes to the game itself, correct? Would it be possible to have it added so that one of those pop-up notifications in the browser appears? That way, portal users would also get the warning (or whatever else announcement needs be made).
The announce command goes to the browser as well.

I’m the only one who ever uses it, so I’m never on the browser side. 
I just had someone ask today, who had been portal-only, if the game had been purposefully shut down and I thought ‘oh they must not be able to see the announce…’ but I guess it came and went while they weren’t looking.
Yeah, those don’t stick around in the browser itself. Depending on their notification settings, it might show up in their OS notification bar if they miss it.
